Floral 3 Piece Ashtray

$165.00

This ashtray is a beautiful blend of form and function. Built in 3 pieces, there is the outer lid, adorned with painted ferns, as well as sculpted flowers and a butterfly on top. The second piece is the ashtray itself, set upon ceramic legs and painted flowers and butterflies. The third piece is the little interior lid, covering a spot for extra joints, a lighter, rolling papers, or some other such small and useful item! The piece is glazed in a clear, transparent glaze, making it easy to clean out, and durable in the long term.

All put together, this piece is about 10 inches tall, and 5 inches deep/wide. There is a small chip on the flowers of the little interior lid, and the price has been adjusted thusly.

To make this vase, it was thrown on the wheel using white, mid-fire stoneware clay. Everything is sculpted and painted before its first firing. It was glazed in a clear, transparent glaze and fired once more - for good measure (and because that is the process).

The botanical ceramics in this collection, Fairly Floral, are an experiment in style, as well as an exploration of freehand painting and carving techniques. They boast a warm palette of colors, and their blooming florals and leafy foliage have simply been a delight to create and to share.
